London, Sept. 4 (CNA) David Lin, Taiwan's representative to the United Kingdom, paid a visit to Bath in South West England on Aug. 29 to promote exchanges in the fields of smart city, urban development and tourism between the two countries.
During the visit, Lin met with Bath Mayor Ian Gilchrist, Peter Turscott, a member of the U.K. House of Lords and two city councilors -- Andrew Furse and Mark Shelford, the representative office said in a statement.
Noting that developing smart cities is a mutually beneficial area for bilateral cooperation, Lin said that with this in mind, the Royal Borough of Greenwich, Birmingham and Peterborough sent delegations to the first ever Taiwan-U.K. Smart City Forum held in Taipei in February to promote exchanges on related strategies and technology.
Lin also welcomed Bath to collaborate with Taiwan in the development of smart cities.
In return, Gilchrist expressed his support for the idea of promoting smart city development in the two countries and said he was looking forward to working with Taiwan.
