Taipei, Sept. 7 (CNA) Chunghwa Post Co. said Thursday that it will offer customers more than 900 additional smart delivery mailboxes by the end of next year, following a successful rollout of the service in 2016.
In a press release, Chunghwa Post said it plans to install the i-mailbox kiosks in places like college campuses, community buildings and hospitals.
In addition, Chunghwa Post said, it is teaming up with Taiwan Railways Administration to install 111 kiosks in 98 train stations throughout the country by the end of next June.
The service, which was launched in July 2016 with the installation of 59 units, allows customers to use the i-mailbox as a delivery address for packages and international express mail, with the convenience of 24-hour pickup.
After the initial rollout, two new functions were added, allowing payment of shipping or other mailing fees via the i-mailbox.
In light of the success of the service, Chunghwa Post said, it plans to install another 100 units by the end of the year and bring the number to at least 1,000 by the end of 2018.
