Taipei, Sept. 8 (CNA) The 2017 Golden Comic Awards (GCA) and Connection+, which showcases comics combined with virtual reality (VR), will be held Sept. 11-12 at the Taipei New Horizon Building, the event's executive organizer, Taiwan Television Enterprise Ltd. (TTV), said Friday.
According to a press statement issued by TTV, the events will include conferences, business matchings, exhibitions of CGA-nominated works and other exhibits.
The titles of the conferences are "The many facets of intellectual property as applied to comics" and "Local is global: Preserving and promoting local comic culture."
One of the works on display will be The Lord of Master-Li Bai, created by renowned comic artist Yeh Ming-Hsuan's, combines VR in comic form and allows players to choose from three different characters -- Li Bai, Du Fu and Wang Wei, TTV said in its statement.
Players can turn, jump, aim and use voice control while attempting to navigate through stages, allowing for more possible experiences, marketing approaches and potential applications than just print media.
According to the Ministry of Culture, which is a joint organizer this year, a business-matching center will be set up at the event to promote potential partnerships and deals to further boost the industry.
The GCA was founded in 2010 and is Taiwan's top award for comics.
