Hong Kong, Sept 9 (CNA) Hong Kong and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) will sign a free trade agreement (FTA) and a related investment agreement in November, according to a press release issued by the Hong Kong government Saturday.

Officials from both sides announced at the 2nd ASEAN Economic Ministers-Hong Kong, China Consultations in the Philippines that the talks on the agreements had concluded, the press statement said.

The agreements are comprehensive in scope, encompassing trade in goods, trade in services, investment, economic and technical cooperation, and dispute settlement mechanisms, according to Hong Kong Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Edward Yau, who co-chaired the meeting of ASEAN economic ministers or their representatives.

He said the FTA and the investment agreement would give Hong Kong greater access to the ASEAN markets, create new business opportunities and enhance trade and investment flows.

The FTA negotiations between Hong Kong and ASEAN started in July 2014 and were completed in July 2017.
