Taipei, Sept. 9 (CNA) Taiwanese tennis sisters Chan Yung-jan and Chan Hao-ching reached the finals of the women's and mixed doubles, respectively, at the US Open on Friday.

The tournament's second-seeded pair Chan Yung-jan and Martina Hingis of Switzerland defeated Sania Mirza of India and Shuai Peng of China 6-4, 6-4 in 1 hour, 27 minutes in the women's doubles semifinals.

Chan and Hingis will come up against seventh seeds Lucie Hradecka and Katerina Siniakova of the Czech Republic in the final at Flushing Meadows in New York.

Meanwhile, the younger sister Chan Hao-ching, alongside Michael Venus of Australia, fought past the unseeded pair Anastasia Rodionova of Australia and Oliver Marach of Austria, 6-1, 7-6 (6) in their semifinal match in 1 hour, 11 minutes.

The winners will face the first seeded duo of Jamie Murray of the United Kingdom and Martina Hingis, who is also competing in the mixed doubles event.

It is the first time that two Taiwanese tennis players have reached the finals of the US Open in separate events, gunning for different grand slam titles.

The last time Chan Yung-jan made it to the finals of the US Open was in 2007, when she teamed up with Taiwanese Chuang Chia-jung in the women's doubles at Flushing Meadows. The pair, however, lost 4-6, 2-6 to French player Nathalie Dechy and Russian Dinara Safina.

The Grand Slam tournaments, also called the majors, are the four most important annual tennis events that comprise the Australian Open in January, the French Open in May and June, Wimbledon in July, and the US Open in August and September.
