Taipei, Sept. 14 (CNA) Taiwan is keeping a close eye on a reported November visit to China by U.S. President Donald Trump, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) said Thursday.
MOFA spokeswoman Eleanor Wang said the government is closely monitoring the reports by foreign media on the visit.
Its representative office in Washington will be responsible for the task and will make timely reports to MOFA's headquarters in Taipei, Wang added.
As has been common practice for decades, Wang said, the U.S. side will brief Taiwan before and after the trip once they have officially decided the details of the state visit.
Quoting unidentified U.S. officials, Reuters reported Monday that Trump is likely to visit China during his first official visit to Asia this November.
Chinese President Xi Jinping invited Trump to visit China during their meeting in April in Palm Beach, Florida. The two leaders also met on the sidelines of the G20 summit in July, the report said.
