Taipei, Sept. 14 (CNA) The Taiwan government will closely monitor dialogue and exchanges between the United States and China, the Presidential Office said Thursday, commenting on a plan by U.S. President Donald Trump to visit China in fall.

Presidential Office spokesman Sidney Lin said Taiwan has close and friendly relations with the U.S. and will maintain communication with Washington to keep track of developments on Trump's Asia tour.

The Taiwan government is hoping that dialogue between the U.S. and China will help bring stability to East Asia and is working with all the relevant parties to promote regional peace and stability, he said.
