Taipei Jazz Festival 2017 to run through late October

Taipei, Sept. 15 (CNA) The Taipei Jazz Festival 2017 will unfold from mid-September until late October with a series of concerts at various venues in the city, Taipei's Department of Cultural Affairs said Friday.

The first three concerts, which will be free and outdoors, will take place Sept. 16, 23 and 30, respectively, at the Songshan Cultural and Creative Park, featuring local and international jazz bands such as Skyline, JEG, Bazaar, Uno, Soy la ley and Draft quartet, the department said.

On Oct. 20, American Grammy Award-winning trumpeter Randy Brecker will give a paid concert in collaboration with Brazilian band Balaio at the Songshan Cultural and Creative Park's performance hall.

Another paid concert featuring American keyboardist Jeff Lorber and his band is scheduled for Oct. 22 at the Riverside Live House in Ximending.

In addition, open-air concerts will take place for three consecutive days at the Da-an Forest Park from Oct. 27 to 29. The performing bands will include Kupa Orchestra, Sweep Music and Timeless Fusion Party from Taiwan as well as Tuesday Microgrooves from Austria and Musicmusicmusic from Sweden.
