Taipei, Sept. 20 (CNA) Taiwan reported Wednesday that the value of total export orders received in August grew year-on-year for the 13th consecutive month, due largely to new upgrades of handheld electronic devices.

According to the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the value of export orders rose to US$40.78 billion for the month, posting a 7.5 percent year-on-year increase.

As the global economy continues to rebound and prices of raw materials continue to grow, demand for the newest models of handheld devices, automobile electronics, artificial intelligence and Internet of Things gadgets has increased to yield the growth in the country's export orders.
