Taipei, Sept. 21 (CNA) A team led by award-winning architect Huang Sheng-yuan has been selected to represent Taiwan at the 16th Venice Architecture Biennale in 2018, the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts announced Thursday.
Huang's team defeated nine other competitors with a design featuring the lifestyle and natural landscape of Yilan, according to jurors for the competition.
They said the design precisely echoes the theme of the Biennale: Freespace.
Huang has been based in Yilan since 1994 and received a number of awards, including Japan's Yosizaka Takamasa Award.
The 16th Venice Architecture Biennale is scheduled to open on May 26, 2018 and run through Nov. 25.
