Taipei, Sept. 22 (CNA) Taiwan's industrial production rose year-on-year for the fourth consecutive month in August, according to statistics released Friday by the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA).

The data shows that the August industrial production index rose 3.25 percent from a year earlier to 115.81, and an increase of 3.86 percent from the previous month.

The rise was backed by steady global economic recovery, the launch of new products by international brands, and demand for mobile and electronic devices as inventories were increased in preparation for the Golden Week holiday in China in October.

The third-quarter manufacturing production is expected to continue the trend of expansion that began in the second quarter of last year.

The good performance is expected to continue in the coming few months, the MOEA said.
