Taipei, Sept. 22 (CNA) Taiwan added to its medal tally at the 2017 Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games on Friday when two Taiwanese billiards players faced off in the 9-ball pool singles final.

Chang Jun-lin grabbed gold by outlasting Ko Pin-yi  9-8 in a race to 9 racks that Ko seemed poised to win for most of the contest.

Ko won three of the first four racks and also took 6-3 and 8-6 leads, but he could never put away Chang, who won the final three racks to take the match.

"I played really poorly today. My lead in the beginning was due to luck," said Ko, who settled for silver.

The two medals boosted Taiwan's medal haul at the games, being held in Turkmenistan, to five golds, four silver and three bronze, good enough for a 10th place ranking.

On Thursday, Taiwan bagged several medals in kurash and taekwondo.

Yang Hsien-tzu and Cheng Yu-erh won kurash gold in the women's under-70kg and women's under-63kg division, respectively, while Huang Chun-ta won a silver in the men's under-81kg division.

In taekwondo, Chen Yu-chuang beat China's Zhou Lijun 20-10 in the women's under-57kg division final, while Chen Yann-yeu lost to Gao Pan of China 7-2 in the women's under-67kg division to take silver.
