Brussels, Dec. 13 (CNA) A group of undergraduate students from Lund University in Sweden who recently visited Taiwan said they were inspired to learn more about the country and Asian culture and to study the Chinese language, according to the Taipei Mission in Sweden.

On their first visit to Taiwan earlier this month, the 15 students had an opportunity to learn about the country's developments in the areas of diplomacy, economy, and human rights, the mission said.

The students, all part of Lund University's student association on diplomacy, visited many key government offices in Taiwan, including the Presidential Office, the Foreign Ministry's Institute of Diplomacy and International Affairs, and the Environmental Protection Administration, the mission said.

The Taipei Mission said it also arranged for the group to visit the Democratic Progressive Party's youth base and National Formosa University in southern Taiwan to help foster exchanges with young people from different countries.

On the students' return to Sweden, they attended a dinner hosted by the Taipei Mission and reported that Taiwan's hospitality was one of the most memorable aspects of their visit.

The students also said the trip had inspired greater interest in Taiwan and the culture of the Asia Pacific region, while some said they would like to return to learn Mandarin in Taiwan, according to the mission.

The trip to Taiwan was organized by the student association with the help of the Taipei Mission in Sweden.
