Jonathan Huang is a busy man. A resident of Australia, he is the honorary president of the Taiwanese Chambers of Commerce in Oceania, a senior advisor to the OCAC, and one of six delegates from the overseas community chosen to be on the Preparatory Committee for the Centenary Celebrations for the R.O.C. Thanks to his success as a real estate developer in Taiwan and Australia, he was able to enjoy the good life until a serious illness five years ago prompted him to reevaluate his priorities. He realized that simply accumulating wealth was not an end in itself, but rather an opportunity to help those in need. Living proof of the proverb, “It is more blessed to give than to receive,” he is now happiest using his money to improve the lives of others. In recognition of his philanthropic work in Taiwan, last year OCAC Minister Wu Ying-yih awarded Huang with a medal that is the highest honor given to overseas compatriots.
