The finale for Taiwan’s 100th year celebration was the “Push Taiwan Forward” event which started on the year’s very last day. At 10am, 110,000 participants gathered at one thousand locations across 22 cities to announce to the world “Here we come, let’s push Taiwan forward!” by starting a thousand kilometer cycling tour around the island.
中華民國建國100年的壓軸活動「轉動台灣向前行」，在100年最後一天，於全台22個縣市、1000個啟程點展開，約有11萬名民眾大串連，上午10時一到，各地同聲吶喊「轉動台灣向前行，世界我們來了」，在1000公里的環島路上，以順時鐘方向，騎著自行車向前出發，迎向新未來。
Vice President, Hsiao Wan-Chang, Chairman of Cultural Affairs Administration Office, Ovid Tzeng, Chairman of the Physical Education Committee, Dai Hsia-Ling, Chief of the Executive Team, King Liu, and Chairman of the Council for Cultural Affairs, Sheng Chih-Jen, all began the tour at Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall along with more than 10,000 participants. They went a total of 8.5 kilometers through Ren Ai Road, Shin Sheng Highway and Chung Shan North Road Section 5 until they arrived at the Shih Lin Residence.
副總統蕭萬長、行政院文化建設委員會主委曾志朗、體育委員會主委戴遐齡、執行團隊總召集人劉金標、前文建會主委盛治仁等，當天上午與1萬多名民眾從台北中正紀念堂出發，經仁愛路、新生高架路段，中山北路五段，共8.5公里路段後，抵達士林官邸。
The “Push Taiwan Forward” tour gathered participants from China Steel, Chung Hwa Telecom, Amway and Timberland. In addition, there were cancer survivors, exchange students from El Salvador, and 16 Orphans from ACC (Amitofo Care Center) Orphanage of Republic of Malawi who were visiting Taiwan.
「轉動台灣向前行」活動有中鋼、中華電信、安麗、Timberland等企業動員大集合，另外還有抗癌勇士、來自薩爾瓦多的交換學生參與，16名來台巡演訪問的非洲馬拉威「阿彌陀佛關懷中心」孤兒院童也在高雄加入騎乘活動。
This tour began simultaneously on Taiwan’s mainland, at Penghu, Kingman and Matsu Islands. The Siluo Bridge over Jhuoshuei River became the focus, because some participants cycled all the way to Dong Aou in the heavy rain from Su Hwa Highway, while some continued on to Su Hwa Highway after cycling through Su Aou City.
活動在台灣本島、澎湖、金門、馬祖等地同步進行，其中騎士跨越濁水溪的西螺大橋，成為焦點之一，還有民眾獨自從蘇花公路起點登錄後，冒著風雨騎到東澳，也有人在蘇澳市區騎完後，繼續騎上蘇花公路。
At 4:50 pm, the Guinness Book of World Records verification officer, Tony Cheng, announced “Push Taiwan Forward” tour had successfully beat Italy’s record from the year 2000, and had achieved the new official world record.
在當天下午4時50分，金氏世界紀錄驗證官程東（Tong Cheng）宣布「轉動台灣向前行」挑戰世界紀錄成功，成功刷新義大利在2000年創下的紀錄。
Prior to starting the tour from Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall, Vice President Hsiao said, “We must show appreciation for the people who have been working so hard in silence for the past decades in this country. This tour stands for the energy of Taiwan, and represents the spirit of Taiwan to overcome challenges.“
蕭副總統從台北中正紀念堂出發前表示，過去幾10年國家人民走過艱辛歲月，要感謝這塊土地及默默耕耘的人民，而這項活動不分地域、人民，延續台灣的生命力，這也代表台灣的精神，在面對挑戰時都可以克服困難。
He said, on the last day of the 100th year of the Republic of China, “Everyone showing up and sharing their enthusiasm for ‘Pushing Taiwan Forward’ has made a ‘new’ Taiwan miracle possible.”
他說，在中華民國100年的最後一天，因為大家的熱情支持，展現台灣新「騎」蹟，讓台灣轉動向前行，邁向光輝未來。
Chairman Tzeng also noted that this tour has shown the world our true spirit and what a Taiwan miracle is, with Taiwan’s 100th year celebration.
曾主委也表示，在民國100年的跨年時刻，這個活動，讓全世界見證繞行台灣的奇蹟以及台灣人的精神。
