Chu-Yao Huang of Singapore is the chairman of Kim Mui Hoey Kuan (Kinmen Association of Singapore). Seventy years after leaving his hometown of Kinmen, he returned with his wife. Upon their arrival on March 26th, the chairman not only participated in forum discussions at Kinmen University, he also made a trip to the town of Kinsha to pay respect to his ancestors. It was here that he learned how his family shrine was remodeled. Within the three short days of stay, he even visited the military base on Lion Mountain and commented that the government should put in more effort to promote Kinmen tourism.

Wo-Tu Lee, the mayor of Kinmen, came to the pier to greet Huang personally on the day of his arrival, and treated him to shredded sweet potatoes and oyster noodles. Both of these dishes are nostalgic flavors that were once the main food source of locals.

During the forum discussions at Kinmen University, Huang said that based on his personal experience, success is only achieved with honesty and sincerity. Learning to grab the opportunities you come across in life and unite with others will take you farther along the path to success.

In 2010, Huang was honored with a medal for his donation of $1 million SGD (approximately $23.5 million NTD) to Kinmen University, sponsoring the College of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Huang explained that it has always been his wish to come back and visit Kinmen. Mayor Lee then noted that many residents of this town had to leave the harsh living conditions to pursue their success overseas, and their success is now an honor to Kinmen.
