Located in Beitou District, Taipei Public Library Beitou Branch is the first green library. It is right in the Beitou Park, neighboring the Beitou Hot Springs Museum, and surrounded by dense forests and a rich ecological life. It has received many international architectural design awards including the recognition as one of the top 25 most beautiful public libraries in the world on Flavorwire.com. Only five libraries in Asia were on the list, in addition to the two libraries in Japan, there are Connemara Public Library Chennai in India, Min Buri Old Market Library in Thailand, and Taipei Public Library, Beitou Branch.

opened on November 17th, 2006. It is a two-story building with a basement level, where the materials of wood, used in Beitou Hot Springs Museum, and steel are integrated to create its own unique design. There are built-in solar panels in the roof, and inclined grass slope constructed to ensure rainwater is recycled to conserve energy, beautify and reduce waste in water resources. The architectural design of Beitou Branch has helped to minimize the damage to our environment.
北投分館於民國95年11月17日啟用，建物規劃為一座地下一層、地上二層的建物，結合北投溫泉特色採木構造搭配鋼材，屋頂設有太陽能光電板發電，綠化屋頂及斜草坡設計可涵養水分自然排水至雨水回收槽，達到節能、綠化與減少水資源浪費，建材可回收利用，減少廢棄物對環境的破壞。
“ Conservation ” is the emphasis of the book collection across this floor area of 2,145 square feet to create the opportunities to teach recycling in the new era. The bookshelves placed at the museum entrance are all just below 110 centimeters in order to amplify its spaciousness, and the floor to ceiling windows used in the entire building skillfully borrow the natural light indoors taking advantage of the unique terrain of south facing park and the neighboring river in the north.
樓地板總面積達650坪，以「生態保育」為館藏典藏重點，開創環保教育服務的新理念、新紀元；館內書架高度皆在110公分以下，讓空間看起來更寬敞：圖書館整棟建築物採用大片落地窗，並且善用南向公園、北面臨溪的地理環境，採集最大量的自然光，巧妙的向自然借景。
In addition to the basic reading room, periodical & newspaper room, computer search area, study room, meeting room, kids room, audio lab and story telling room, the balcony of each floor was transformed into a outdoor reading area allowing visitors to read leisurely by the fragrant flowers and chirping birds in the green woods.
