Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC) Minister Wu Hsin-hsing is accompanying President Tsai Ing-wen on a trip to Taiwan’s allies in Central America. During a stopover in Houston in the US on January 7, he found the time in his packed schedule to meet with overseas community leaders from the southern US, caring for the current situation and development of overseas communities. Wu thanked OCAC Commissioners for helping promote overseas community affairs and expressed the hope that they will continue to play the role of a bridge between the Republic of China (Taiwan) and the world and increase Taiwan’s international visibility.

On January 8, Wu had dinner with OCAC Senior Advisers and more than a dozen Taiwanese overseas community leaders. They exchanged opinions regarding the grand events held by overseas community groups to promote Taiwan’s culture such as Taiwanese American Heritage Week and Taiwan Night Market Festival. Wu praised the overseas communities in the southern US for being the best citizen ambassadors for Taiwan and encouraged overseas compatriots to work together with the government to let the world see Taiwan and vice versa.
