Taipei, May 5 (CNA) A variety of products produced by Kinmen Kaoliang Liquor Inc. (KKL) has continued to enjoy international acclaim after winning top prizes recently at major spirits competitions around the world.

KKL Chairman Huang Ching-shun said at a news conference earlier this week that the quality of the distillery's products gained high approval from judges at the Ultimate Spirits Challenge in New York and at Monde Selection in Brussels recently, following the brand's strong performances at international competitions last year.

In the New York Ultimate Spirits Challenge, Kinmen Aged Ta-Chu Liquor was given 95 points and won "ultimate recommendation" by the judges who praised it as "extraordinary." It also received five stars in the cocktail commendation.

Meanwhile, KKL's Kinmen Platinum Dragon Kaoliang Liquor and Kinmen Selection No. 46 Kaoliang Liquor were given 94 points at the same competition and were described as "excellent" by the judges.

In the Monde Selection in Brussels, judges gave "Gold" awards to eight KKL liquor products, with V.S.O. Kinmen Kaoliang Liquor winning the "Grand Gold" award.

The eight winning products include the deer antler wine, which participated in the competition for the first time, according to the KKL.

Kinmen Kaoliang, a strong and unflavored distilled beverage made from sorghum, has long been the most popular white liquor (baijiu) in Taiwan, enjoying an 80 percent market share.
