Bangkok, May 23 (CNA) Taiwanese athletes bagged 6 gold, 7 silver and 2 bronze medals to rank second in overall medal haul at the Asian Youth Athletics Championships that ended in Bangkok on Tuesday.
On the final day, Hsiang Chia-li grabbed a gold in the girls' heptathlon with a total score of 4,985 points.
Lu Hao-hua won a gold in the boys' 110-meter hurdles and Lin Ting-wei earned a gold in the girls' 100m hurdles.
Yang Po-en won the boy's shot put and Wu Wei-chiao outshone her rivals in the girls' 5,000m walk.
The most impressive performance during the championships was by Liu Tsu-yuan who on Sunday fought through the pain to win the boys' decathlon title with 5,982 points.
China came first with 16 golds, 9 silvers and 5 bronzes. India was third with 5 golds, 5 silvers and 4 bronzes.
More than 20 countries sent teams to take part in the second Asian Youth Athletics Championships that started last Saturday.
