Taipei, July 15 (CNA) Lu Hao-hua, a student of Stella Maris Ursuline High School in Hualien, won silver on Friday in the men's 110 meter hurdles at the IAAF World U18 Championships in Nairobi, Kenya, the first medal won by Taiwan at the games.
Lu clocked 13.41, well off the pace of the winner De'Jour Russell of Jamaica, who had a time of 13.04. The bronze medal winner was Thomas Wanaverbeco of France with a time of 13.55.
Lu ran his personal best 13.32 in his semifinal heat earlier in the day, beating the U18 national record of 13.40 that he set in May at the Asian Youth Athletics Championships in Bangkok.
