Brussels, Sept. 24 (CNA) Taiwanese badminton player Chen Shiau-cheng won the men's singles title Sunday at the Yonex Belgian Junior 2017 in Herstal, Belgium, beating his British rival Harry Huang.

Top seeded Chen, 17, a student at Kaohsiung Municipal High School who was placed 14th in the world junior badminton rankings, failed to gain ground in the first game after his opponent unleashed blistering attacks, which ultimately resulted in the game going to Huang 8-21.

However, Chen then adjusted his tactics and staged a comeback, winning the second and third games 21-16, 21-13.

After clinching the men's singles title, Chen said his world ranking is expected to jump to among the top 10.

Tseng Ho-jen, Taiwan's representative to the European Union and Belgium, extended his congratulations to Chen on his victory.
