Taipei, Sept. 4 (CNA) Taiwan's Central Weather Bureau (CWB) said Tuesday it plans to lodge an open protest over a change that was made to the location tag on a photo submitted by one of its staff members to an international competition.
The weather photo, submitted to the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), was labeled with the location as "Taiwan," but that was later changed by the competition organizers to "Taiwan, Province of China," the CWB said.
The bureau said it will help the photographer, staff member Fu Ie-feng, to protest the change via emails and Facebook posts.
Fu's photo, which shows storm clouds gathering in a starry sky over Taiwan's outlying Pengjia islet, was submitted to the WMO's 2019 calendar competition that is being held under the theme The Sun, the Earth and the Weather.
Captioned "Thor help me light up the clouds," the photo is among the 75 finalists chosen from 1,000 entries in the competition.
The 13 best photos, as chosen by Facebook users in the two weeks starting Aug. 31, will appear on the WMO's 2019 calendar.
