




On August 31, Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC) Minister Wu Hsin-hsing visited California state capital Sacramento. He visited the Sun Yat Sen Chinese School, which is affiliated to the Sacramento Chinese of Indo-China Friendship Association, and California Northstate Medical University, which was established by overseas community leaders. He also visited the local overseas community. This was Minister Wu’s first visit to Sacramento. Led by overseas community leaders, including Commissioner of Overseas Community Affairs Commission, Carl C. Hsu, Senior Adviser of Overseas Community Affairs Commission, Jong L. Chen, President of Sacramento Chinese Benevolent Association, Kwok Ping, Yu, President of Sacramento Chinese of Indo-China Friendship Association, Linda Lu, Vice President of Sacramento Chinese of Indo-China friendship Association, Zong Cyun, Ciou, and Honorary President of Sacramento Chinese of Indo-China Friendship Association, Yong Siou Huang, around 100 persons in charge of important local overseas compatriot groups and overseas community leaders gathered together to welcome Minister Wu.
Minister Wu stated that overseas compatriots are not only the most precious resource of the ROC, they have been the most important promoters and support in more than 100 years of development of free and democratic Taiwan. In particular, whenever the country or government are in difficult situations, overseas compatriots all over the world come together and steadfastly defend the nation and support the government. Minister Wu hopes that the overseas compatriots in Sacramento will always remember their original motivation, adhere to the core value of freedom and democracy and continue to firmly support the ROC. Minister Wu also took the chance to introduce the Overseas Compatriot Card and the ocacnews website. He also encouraged the overseas compatriots to come to Taiwan to celebrate the National Day of the ROC.
The group led by Minister Wu then visited the Guanyin Temple built by the Sacramento Chinese of Indo-China Friendship Association and California Northstate Medical University.
