Taipei, Oct. 26 (CNA) Taipei-based StarLux Airlines Co. announced on Monday that it will launch flights to three Asian cities in December as part of its plans for the post-COVID-19 recovery.

In a statement, StarLux said it will launch flights to Bangkok, Osaka and Tokyo in December to tap into important hubs in Asia, with bookings for flights to Bangkok and Osaka available from Nov. 2 and those for Tokyo slated for mid-November.

Beginning on Dec. 1, StarLux will offer two weekly flights from Taoyuan International Airport to Bangkok International Airport (BKK, Suvarnabhumi) on Tuesdays and Fridays, and to Kansai Airport (KIX, Osaka) on Tuesdays and Fridays from Dec. 15.

Starting on Dec. 16, twice weekly flights will also fly to Narita Airport (NRT, Tokyo) from Taoyuan on Wednesdays and Saturdays, it said.

StarLux Chief Executive Officer Glenn Chai said it has been necessary to adjust operational strategy at a time when the COVID-19 crisis shows no signs of abating across the globe.

However, he added that StarLux remains optimistic about its development and the delivery of 13 A321neos ordered by the company and the opening of a management hub slated for early 2021 will proceed as scheduled.

Since launching operations early this year, StarLux has gradually restarted its services following a full suspension of flights after the outbreak of the new coronavirus COVID-19, recently resuming daily flights to Macau and twice weekly flights to Penang in Malaysia.

Based on a precise assessment of the post-pandemic era, StarLux said it is seeking to fly to commercial hubs with solid demand for air cargo or passenger travel as quickly as possible to meet customer expectations.
