Taipei, Jan. 5 (CNA) Crowd controls will be implemented for visitors to the Wuling Farm area in central Taiwan during the cherry blossom season from Feb. 12 to March 1, the Ministry of Transportation and Communications announced Tuesday.
The number of visitors allowed to enter the area during the 18-day period will be capped at 6,000 per day, which includes 1,800 spending the night and 4,200 day trippers, the ministry said.
The 4,200 day trippers will be further divided into 1,000 who are part of tour groups, and 3,200 individual visitors, it added.
All day trippers must use public transportation and private vehicles will not be permitted entry. Only those spending the night will be allowed to travel in their own vehicles, according to the ministry.
Every day during the flowering season, charter bus services will depart from Taipei, Yilan County, and Lishan in Taichung, with bookings starting on Wednesday.
The buses will depart between 5:30 a.m. and 8 a.m. and return between 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. at intervals of between 10 minutes and 50 minutes, depending on the station, the ministry said.
The farm's operators estimated that the number of visitors could reach around 110,000 in the flowering season, following a significant decline in visits last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
One of the country's best-known spots for cherry blossoms, the farm is home to the Taiwan cherry, the Oshima cherry, the Yaezakura cherry, and the Wusheh cherry, which account for more than 30,000 cherry trees in the area.
