Taipei, June 14 (CNA) A seven-month-old girl was one of the three new COVID-19 cases confirmed in Changhua County on Monday, bringing the total number of cases in the central Taiwan county to 250, with five deaths, according to local health officials.

Changhua County Public Health Bureau Director Yeh Yen-po (葉彥伯) said the baby girl was likely infected with the coronavirus during a family gathering her parents brought her to on June 4 or from her mother, who also tested positive for COVID-19.

So far nine out of 10 people who joined the June 4 gathering have tested positive for COVID-19.

The other two new cases Monday were also family members of two other confirmed cases, Yeh said.

To date, the county has conducted COVID-19 tests on 37,294 people, with a 0.67 percent positive rate, and its COVID-19 death rate is 2 percent.

Meanwhile, Yeh said the county will start to administer COVID-19 vaccines Tuesday to seniors 75 years old and above who have made prior appointments to get shots.
