Taipei, June 15 (CNA) China Airlines (CAL), one of Taiwan's largest carriers, will add two more round-trip flights to California in both July and August amid growing travel demand to the United States.

The carrier said flight CI024 will depart from Taoyuan International Airport to Ontario International Airport in San Bernardino on July 13 and 27 and Aug. 10 and 24.

The return flights will leave California on July 15 and 29 and Aug. 12 and 26, the company said.

CAL's inaugural flight between the two destinations took place in March 2018.

Due to the easing of the COVID-19 situation in the U.S., the airline operator said last week that it was adding flights to Los Angeles International Airport on June 22, 24 and 29.

The airline, which has deployed much of its fleet to more lucrative cargo services during the COVID-19 pandemic, had to significantly cut back its already limited passenger flights starting April 29 after several of its pilots came down with COVID-19.

Because of the cluster infection, a large number of CAL flight crew members who were not infected still had to be quarantined, limiting the manpower at the airline's disposal.
