COVID-19 vaccination appointments to open to foreigners aged 75 and up: Taipei

Taipei, June 22 (CNA) Foreign nationals who are 75-years-old and above, hold a Taiwanese residency permit and currently live in Taipei, will be allowed to make online appointments to receive a COVID-19 vaccination jab from Wednesday, city officials announced Tuesday.

From 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, foreign nationals born before Dec. 31, 1946, can log onto a dedicated English-language website and make an appointment, according to the city government.

For those who secure an appointment, vaccinations will be carried out on Thursday, from 9 a.m. to noon and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Taipei Municipal Xinyi Junior High School at No. 1, Lane. 158, Songren Road, Xinyi District.

On vaccination day, individuals being vaccinated need to bring their their Alien Resident Certificate (required), National Health Insurance card (optional) and to wear a face mask at all times.

English-proficient police officers will be at the school to provide assistance.

For further information call 1999 extension 4 for the English language service and extension 7 for the Japanese language service, the city government said.

The service is provided by Taipei Medical University Hospital, according to the Taipei city government.
