Taipei, July 4 (CNA) Taiwanese sisters Latisha Chan and Chan Hao-ching, as well as Hsieh Su-wei, advanced to the third round at Wimbledon on Saturday, after beating their opponents.

The seventh-seeded Chans ousted Elixane Lechemia of France and Ingrid Neel of the United States 6-4, 6-1 in a match that lasted 73 minutes.

They kept an early 3-2 lead in the first set after breaking their opponents' serve, when the match had to be suspended due to rain.

After the game resumed, they managed to secure a break point and finished the set 6-4.

The duo overwhelmed their opponents in the second set, breaking three of their serves and ending up 6-1.

They will face Harriet Dart and Heather Watson, both from the United Kingdom, on Monday.

Meanwhile, Hsieh and her Belgium partner Elise Mertens beat Viktorija Golubic of Switzerland and Misaki Doi of Japan 6-1, 5-7, 6-0 in 105 minutes.

Except for the second set, when Hsieh and Mertens, seeded 3, lost two serve games, the rest of the match was a breeze to them.

They will meet Asia Muhammad and Jessica Pegula, both of the U.S. in their next match.

Wimbledon is one of the four Grand Slam tennis tournaments, the others being the Australian Open, the French Open and the U.S. Open.

Following the cancellation of the 2020 tournament due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year's event is being held from June 28 to July 11.
