Taipei, July 27 (CNA) Taiwanese weightlifter Chen Wen-huei (陳玟卉) on Tuesday clinched a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympic Games in the women's 64kg weight class, taking home the national squad's second medal in the sport that day.
The 24-year-old finished with a combined lift of 230 kilograms -- 103 kg. in the snatch and 127 kg. in the clean and jerk.
Chen's medal came only hours after her teammate, the nation's top female weightlifter Kuo Hsing-chun (郭婞淳), won Taiwan's first gold medal in Tokyo by setting three Olympic records in the women's 59kg weight class.
Chen is making her first Olympic appearance after wining three gold medals at the Asian Weightlifting Championships in Uzbekistan earlier this year and later securing a berth at the Tokyo Olympics.
Currently, Taiwan has won one gold, two silver and three bronze medals at the Tokyo Olympics.
