To call on all circles around the world to support Taiwan's entry into the UN, the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in New York launched the Global Sky Lantern Prayer Plan at Times Square in New York. Sky lanterns that represent the 23.5 million people of Taiwan slowly soar into the air on the large screen in Times Square.

The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in New York also specially established the global online sky lantern prayer webpage “Give Taiwan A Voice,” inviting the people of Taiwan and people around the world who support Taiwan’s participation in the UN to express their support for Taiwan on the online sky lantern comment board, calling on the UN to listen to every voice and let hope soar.

OCAC Minister Tung Chen-yuan is in New York on official business and took time out of his busy schedule to go to Time Square where he took part in the global sky lantern pray activity. Amongst the overseas compatriot leaders of New York taking part were Taiwanese Chambers of Commerce of North America (TCCNA) consultant Timothy Chuang, President of Taiwanese Junior Chamber of Commerce of New York (TJCCNY) Joey Chiang, Vice President of TJCCNY Alex Wang.

Minister Tung also called on overseas compatriots around the world to take part in the global online sky lantern activity to let the world hear Taiwan. He led the way in leaving a message on the online sky lantern, writing “Go Go Go Taiwan Go Go Go UN”.

The Sky Lantern Prayer Plan also mirrors the UN theme this year of “Building resilience through hope,” saying to the UN with huge letters that “Everyone has the right to speak and only through listening can the world become better and welcome hope. Please show your support for Taiwan.”

The Global Online Sky Lantern Prayer webpage is now open for comments and welcomes comments from all quarters in support of Taiwan's UN entry. The campaign website GiveTaiwanAVoice.com
