Taipei, Oct. 12 (CNA) The Tourism Bureau on Tuesday drew the first 600,000 lucky winners for its domestic travel vouchers, one of the government's bonus voucher programs aimed at boosting the economy across a range of sectors.

The winners, who were notified via text message that afternoon, are those with national identification cards that end in 21, 32, 98, 67, 97 and 410.

Each winner who entered the draw will receive a digital travel voucher valued at NT$1,000 (US$35.53), which can be claimed from a dedicated website from Friday.

The bureau said the vouchers can be spent from November until April 30, 2022.

According to Tourism Bureau Director-general Chang Shi-chung (張錫聰) the travel vouchers can be used at more than 4,000 designated travel and accommodation related stores and businesses across Taiwan.

A total of 2.4 million travel vouchers will be available in four draws which will take place every Tuesday until Nov. 2.

The vouchers issued by the bureau are just one of several types of bonus vouchers offered by different ministries for which there will also be weekly draws on different days.

The others cover food, as well as services and products in the cultural, agricultural and sports sectors.

There are also vouchers designed to boost the income of indigenous groups, the Hakka community and small businesses dedicated to local revitalization.

Anyone interested in these bonus vouchers can register via https://5000.gov.tw to take part in the weekly draw.

Also on Tuesday, the Council of Indigenous Peoples (CIP) announced the first winners for its bonus vouchers dubbed "i-Yuan Vouchers."

The winners were registered participants with national identification card numbers that end in 64 and 85, according to the CIP's Facebook page.

Each winner is entitled to a voucher valued at NT$1,000, it said, adding that a total of 24,364 winners were drawn that day.
