The Special edition 12 colors Markers kit of Malaysia’s Leaderart Industries won the Silver Award in the first OCAC Taiwan Prime Awards. Company founder Liu Wei-hsiang said the award was great encouragement for its employees who toiled tirelessly for LeaderArt during the epidemic period.
Leaderart set up a factory in Johore 32 years ago. With the joint effort of its employees, the 12 colors Markers kit with the image of Taipei 101 on the cover was developed. This product saw off competition from 47 other products to win the Silver Award.
When interviewed, Liu said, in the past, they mostly made products under contract including stationary made for leading brands, with own-brand products relatively few. Today, they have set up a factory in Vietnam and have more space to develop their own brand. “We have more space to develop because the Vietnam market is bigger.” Receiving the Taiwan Prime Awards offers the company a development opportunity.
The image of Taipei 101 on the cover means that the set is as colorful as Taipei 101,” Liu said. Facing the epidemic as well as the challenge of the digital era, things have been tough for employees. May to June this year they engaged in the development and manufacture of the 12 colors Markers kit. This award will boost employee confidence, he said. They intend to mass produce the product and sell it around the world.
Liu is now semi-retired and the company is now run by his children on a daily basis. He says he still goes to the office every morning to keep abreast of things to keep his mind focused. The rest of the time he engages in charity activities.
