Taipei, Nov. 15 (CNA) Tigerair Taiwan on Monday announced it will resume regular flight booking services from Wednesday and offer passengers the chance to claim free tickets.
The budget airline suspended regular flights in late 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic showed no signs of abating.
In a statement, Tigerair, the sole low-cost carrier based in Taiwan, said it has made its flight schedule for the 2021-2022 winter season from Dec. 25 to March 26 available on the company website.
In the initial stage, flights are available from Taoyuan International Airport to Macau, Narita Airport in Tokyo, Kansai International Airport in Osaka, and Incheon Airport in Seoul, it said.
In a bid to boost air travel which has gradually recovered from the fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic, Tigerair said it is promoting a special offer that allows passengers to secure free tickets for flights from Taoyuan airport to Japan, South Korea and Macau.
The special offer will be available from 10 a.m. Wednesday to 11:59 p.m. on Nov. 30 on the Tigerair website, with passengers who book round trip tickets to the three destinations able to vie for a limited number of free tickets for the outward flight, on a first come first served basis, the carrier said.
In addition, those who book tickets on the company's website from Wednesday to Feb. 14 will be eligible for special treatment -- allowing them to change the date of flights from Dec. 25 to March 26 free of charge one time, it said, but passengers will still have to pay for any difference in price.
The budget airline mainly operates flights to destinations in Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia and Macau.
