The AIG FZ FORZA IRISH OPEN 2021 concluded last Saturday (21 November) with a great achievement from Taiwanese badminton athlete Wen Chi Hsu who won the Women's Singles against a fantastic opponent Line Højmark Kjærsfeldt from Denmark (Rank 33th, Badminton World Federation rankings). The Irish Open 2021 was held at the National Indoor Area, Dublin. Wen Chi Hsu defeated Højmark Kjærsfeldt in the final, 21–9, 14–21, 21-15 to win the Women's Singles Champion title at the 2021 Irish Open.
Wen Chi was welcomed in Ireland with greetings and support from Taiwanese living in Ireland. Organised by TIA secretary Chia Hsuan Huang, the TIA Chairperson and members were present at National Indoor Arena. More overseas Taiwanese watched the matches online. All were thrilled to see a Taiwanese athlete representing Taiwan (Chinese Taipei) at the international level in Ireland and performing at the highest level amongst many other nations present during the Irish Open.
Taiwan has a great history of producing champions in Badminton; and certainly, the recent performance from Wen Chi consolidates the recognition of Taiwan as a deserved international participant and partner in sports like Badminton and others. Wen Chi is sponsored by Chailease Foundation, which is an exmaple of active Corporate Social Responsibiltities in the progressive Taiwan Culture.
Wen Chi has made Taiwan and the Taiwanese community in Ireland very proud and we wish her the very best in her next European tournaments. Her tour will bring her to the UK in Glasgow and Cardiff.
