Taipei, Dec. 28 (CNA) Attention party people! With 2022 just around the corner, CNA has compiled a list of countdown parties and fireworks displays from around the country to help you choose where to ring in the new year.
Celebrities, singers, and dancers will perform across the country as they join crowds in sending off 2021 at a raft of events across the island.
Northern Taiwan
The New Year's Eve countdown party and Taipei 101 fireworks display in the capital will be held from 7 p.m. Friday until 1 a.m. Saturday at Taipei City Hall Square.
The event is set to feature some of the hottest names in the country's entertainment industry, including indie bands EggPlantEgg and Accusefive, and singer and songwriter A-Lin.
Rock and pop group Tizzy Bac, rock duo Power Station, and Malaysian pop singer Fish Leong will also be some of the big names to take the stage.
This year's Taipei 101 firework display will fire off 16,000 fireworks over 360 seconds, making the show one of its longest and biggest displays ever.
The annual show this year has been curated around the theme "Towards a Better Future," and will also feature animation, music, and a light show in addition to the fireworks.
The Miramar Entertainment Park New Year's Eve Party in Taipei, being held in the complex's plaza, starts at 8:20 p.m. Friday and will feature roof-raising hip-hop performances by rappers Sowut, Yappy, and Wannasleep.
Also in northern Taiwan, a fireworks display of 13 minutes and 14 seconds will be fired over Tamsui River from areas near New Taipei's Danjiang Bridge starting 8:22 p.m. Friday.
Keelung New Year Countdown 2021, which kicks off at 5 p.m. Friday at Keelung Harbor with an arrangement of rock bands, will include performances by heavy metal band Flesh Juicer, alternative rock group Mary See the Future, and indie band The Village Armed Youth Band.
The fireworks at the party will run for 420 seconds and large ships in the harbor will also sound their horns to welcome the new year.
Taoyuan's News Year's Eve party, scheduled to take place from 7 p.m. Friday until 12:30 a.m. Saturday in front of the city's high-speed rail station, will feature Chinese-Australian R&B singer Julia Wu, singer-songwriter Bii, rapper Kumachan, and pop band 831. The fireworks at the party will run for 100 seconds.
Hsinchu County's countdown party will kick off at 5:30 p.m. on Friday in front of the county government building, and will feature a range of performers, such as rapper Hot Dog, singer Ricky Hsiao, and indie band Bisiugroup Amazing Show.
Central Taiwan
A party in Taichung's Lihpao Land will be held in the amusement park and resort's second car park from 10:00 p.m. Friday until 12:30 a.m. Saturday. The event will also feature performances from singer Olivia Tsao, rapper Shou, and R&B singer Nine Chen.
The party at Taichung Central Park, which kicks off at 7 p.m. Friday and run until 1 a.m. Saturday, will feature performances from singers and bands including hip-hop trip MJ116, jazz-hop and R&B singer ?te, singer-songwriter Shi Shi, and local hip-hop group Nine One One.
The New Year's Eve party in Nantou begins at 7 p.m. Friday at Nantou County Stadium, with singer Only You, actress and singer Francesca Kao, TV host and singer Mini Tsai, and others on hand.
Nantou County's Sun Moon Lake New Year's Eve Fireworks Party, which will feature 300 seconds of fireworks, will kick off at 8 p.m. Friday at Shuishe Pier.
Southern Taiwan
The New Year's Eve party at Janfusun Fancyworld in Yunlin County will have a fireworks display that includes floating fireworks, alongside funk and dance-pop performances from Cosmos People, singer-songwriter Ring, and many more.
Tainan's New Year's Eve event will be held from 7 p.m. Friday until 12:30 a.m. Saturday at Tainan City Government Yonghua Civic Center, and will include performances by veteran Taiwanese rapper Dwagie, Chinese-American pop-R&B singer Karencici, and boy band B.T.O.D.
Kaohsiung's countdown party will start at 7 p.m. at Kaohsiung Port's No. 7 Wharf and feature a star-studded lineup, including veteran rock band Wu Bai & China Blue, singer Tarcy Su, and actress-singer Yao Yao.
Also in Kaohsiung, the E-DA World's New Year's Eve party will feature an 888-second firework display.
