The documentary Revolution of Our Times which has the mass protest movement in Hong Kong as its background, won Best Documentary at the 58th Golden Horse Awards, was selected for special screening at the Cannes Film Festival and won the Most Influential Documentary Award at the FIPADOC international documentary festival in France in January, 2022 premiered in at the University of Victoria Cinecenta in British Columbia on February 26. In Cantonese with Chinese and English subtitles, this documentary attracted many people originally from Taiwan, Hong Kong and China as well as many non-Chinese viewers.
Due to its political nature, Revolution of Our Times still cannot be shown in Hong Kong and China. Taiwan was the first country to show it in commercial cinemas. The documentary came to Canada in February and was shown in Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Montreal and Victoria. It received an enthusiastic welcome and tickets were hard to come by. In Toronto and Vancouver there were 14 showings but this was still not enough to meet demand.
