Taipei, July 14 (CNA) EVA Airways (EVA Air), one of Taiwan's two major carriers, has been named 8th in the Top Twenty Airlines for 2022 ranking released Thursday by AirlineRatings.com, up one spot from last year, according to the website.
EVA Air is the only Taiwan airline to make the top 20 list, according to AirlineRatings.com, a safety and product rating website.
EVA Air was the world's first carrier to introduce premium economy class in 1992 and since then the company has been a pioneer in service innovation, contributing to its outstanding performance in the aviation market, AirlineRatings.com editor-in-cief Geoffrey Thomas said, according to EVA Air's new release.
The recognition, coming in the wake of the aviation industry being hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic, is the best possible motivation for the airline to keep improving aviation safety and quality services, EVA Air said in a press release.
Qatar Airways was ranked No. 1 in this year's ranking, because of its cabin innovation, passenger service and commitment to operate throughout the COVID pandemic, according to AirlineRatings.com.
To be named in the top 20, airlines must achieve a seven-star safety rating and demonstrate leadership in innovation for passenger comfort, the website said.
