Taipei, July 15 (CNA) The New Taipei City Government on Thursday unveiled the theme for the 2022 New Taipei City Children's Arts Festival as "Hello! Monsters," welcoming children and their chaperones to join the city in fun and games between July 29 and Aug. 14.

The city's deputy mayor Hsieh Cheng-ta (謝政達) said that last year's festival went online due to the pandemic, but this year, the festival will take on a hybrid form where attendees may experience physical activities and submerge themselves virtually in a universe of monsters, a theme that encompasses endless creativity and imagination.

Physical competitions, art installations, interactive experiences, movie screenings and online classes are all awaiting festival goers this year, according to the city's cultural affairs department.

It has teamed up with Spartan Kids to create an obstacle course challenge for children to tap into their adventurous side.

Live performances at the physical festival will also include bubble and light shows as well as theater acts from popular children's theatrical troupes like Paper Windmill Theatre and Diabolo Dance Theatre.

Virtually, online summer camps will also be available to teach kids about animation design and film editing to help children build and put their imagination into reality.

The department added that the festival is designed to bring excitement to attendees every day, with interactive events at the city's Public Square, allowing children to enjoy playful experiences.

Details of the festival may be found on the event's official website and the New Taipei City Government's Facebook page.
