Toronto overseas community welcomes Hsu, Chia-Ching Antony Shing-Pak Kam awarded the Mt. Jade Professional Medal

OCAC Council Members, and Antony Shing-Pak Kam, who is OCAC Senior Adviser, together arranged a dinner reception to welcome Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC) Deputy Minister Hsu, Chia-Ching to Toronto on June 18 and she was interviewed by OMINI TV. The dinner was attended by around 200 people including Chen, Jin-Ling, Director General of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Toronto, Sun Kuo-Hsiang, Director of the Culture Center of TECO in Toronto, a visiting group led by Chairperson Sherry Chen of the Global Federation of Chinese Business Women (GFCBW), chairpersons and representatives of various branches of the GFCBW in North America, overseas compatriot groups in the Greater Toronto area, persons in charge of overseas compatriot schools and overseas compatriots.

During the dinner, Deputy Minister Hsu presented the 2022 Mt. Jade Professional Medal to OCAC Senior Adviser Antony Shing-Pak Kam in recognition of his long-term involvement in overseas community work, support for Taiwan and promotion of cultural, trade and economic exchange between Taiwan and Canada; he has also been active in recent years in support of Taiwan’s meaningful participation in the WHO and more recently the CPTPP. He was also the founding chairman of the Eastern Canada Taiwanese Care & Assistance Association and makes every effort to bring the overseas community together and promote overseas compatriot affairs work.

In his acceptance speech, Kam modestly said that he was happy to receive this honor and thanked the OCAC for its recognition and support as well as thanking all the people older and younger who have helped along the way. He said the honor belongs to all the groups and individuals who have given selflessly.
