Taipei, Aug. 30 (CNA) Governor Doug Ducey of the American state of Arizona arrived in Taiwan on Tuesday for a three-day visit, during which he will meet with President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) said.
Ducey will also meet with Foreign Minister Joseph Wu (吳釗燮) and attend "U.S. Business Day," an annual event held in Taiwan to promote trade and investment opportunities, MOFA said in a press release.
During the three-day trip, Ducey is also scheduled to visit semiconductor companies and universities with semiconductor programs, in a bid to expand cooperation between his state and Taiwan in that field, the ministry said.
Taiwan has close economic and trade ties with Arizona, where some 100 Taiwanese companies have made investments, mostly in the semiconductor, aviation, and electronics industries.
Ducey is the second American governor to visit Taiwan this month, after Indiana Governor Eric J. Holcomb, according to MOFA.
