The Moon Festival Carnival was held on September 10th at Main Street Cupertino on the day of the Mid-Autumn Festival. It was organized by The World Journal, ANCCS (Association of Northern California Chinese Schools), and DCSI (Distinguished Citizens Society International of Silicon Valley). The event had FASCA SFBA (Formosa Association of Student Cultural Ambassadors in the San Francisco Bay Area) President Daniel Tsai and Maggie Peng as emcees.
Lisa Wang (President of ANCCS), and Vivian Wang (President, DCSI Silicon Valley) spent extra time to make sure the cultural performances at the event ran smoothly.
VIPs at the event included CC of TECO in SF(Milpitas) Director Sophia Chuang, Cupertino Mayor Darcy Paul, The World Journal President David Yang, Orion Abacus Association President Hsieh, former ANCCS President Thomas Wang, and DCSI USA President Pao Kang Liu. Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC) Councilmember and L'epi D'or Bakery CEO Johnney Lee was also present to cut two huge mooncakes for the crowd, supplied by L'epi D'or Bakery.
FASCA SFBA sent their dance and diabolo/juggling teams to the celebration, performing spectacular performances that wowed the crowd. The traditional aboriginal costumes helped make the audience feel like they were back in Taiwan. During the diabolo and juggling performance, the group tricks impressed everyone watching. Former FASCA President Emma Wang performed a solo dance performance as well, showcasing high-energy choreography that made the audience hold their breath. Counselors Katy Wu and Lily Liu accompanied the twenty FASCA members throughout the entire event.
Some other activities at the festival were a moon cake tasting contest, storytelling, diabolo teaching, and musical chairs. Hundreds of people attended the public event, with many grandparents watching their grandchildren enthusiastically participate in the activities. We love to see this type of wholesome family bonding event!
