Taipei, Sept. 26 (CNA) Former United States Secretary of State Mike Pompeo arrived in Taiwan on Monday night ahead of his planned attendance at a business forum in Kaohsiung on Tuesday.

Pompeo is scheduled to deliver a speech Tuesday at the Global Taiwan Business Forum in Kaohsiung, which is being hosted by the Liberty Times newspaper.

He is also expected to address the World Taiwanese Chambers of Commerce on Wednesday, and will visit several high-tech companies in the southern part of the country, the Liberty Times reported.

Pompeo, who served as Secretary of State from 2018 to 2021 under former President Donald Trump, was previously in Taiwan for four days in March.
