Taipei, Oct. 16 (CNA) Taiwanese shuttlers bagged all five titles at the 2022 YONEX Bendigo International badminton tournament Sunday, with victory in men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles.
The first title of the day came when mixed doubles shuttlers Chang Ko-chi (張課琦) and Lee Chih-Chen (李芷蓁) secured a hard-fought 16-21, 21-18, 21-17 victory over third seeds Sumiya Nihei and Minami Asakura of Japan.
In the all-Taiwanese men's singles final, Lin Chun-yi (林俊易) defeated compatriot Su Li-yang (蘇力揚) 21-19, 22-20.
Sung Shuo-yun (宋碩芸) then scored an upset against Vietnamese top-seed Thuy Linh Nguyen with a 21-19, 21-15 win in the final of the women's singles.
The women's doubles final brought another all-Taiwan matchup, with Lee Chia-hsin (李佳馨) and Teng Chun-hsun (鄧淳薫) edging out Chang Ching-hui (張淨惠) and Yang Ching-tun (楊景惇) 19-21, 22-20, 21-14.
Meanwhile, Chang Ko-chi (張課琦) Po Li-wei (柏禮維) came out on top against twin brothers Lee Fang-chih (李芳至) Lee and Lee Fang-jen (李芳任) 21-15, 14-21, 22-20 in the men's doubles final.
Sunday's feat came after Taiwanese athletes clinched a similar clean sweep at Oct. 9's Sydney International, where Sung Shuo-yun (宋碩芸) took home the women's singles crown.
