On the evening of June 26, the Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC) awarded the Hai-Hwa Honored Medal of the OCAC to the president of Taiwanese Compatriot Association in the Philippines (TCAP) and OCAC Adviser Su, Kuo-Fang in commendation of his work to promote overseas compatriot affairs, enthusiastically dedicate to public benefit, donate anti-epidemic supplies to the Philippines, and bring together the overseas community.
At the award ceremony, Director of the Culture Center of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in the Philippines said in a speech on behalf of OCAC Vice Minister Roy Yuan-Rong Leu that the award of the Hai-Hwa Honored Medal commends Adviser Su for his long-term promotion of Taiwan-Philippines trade relations, assistance given to the government to promote citizen diplomacy, devotion in public benefit activities, and efforts that have raised the profile of Taiwanese entrepreneurs in the Philippines.
Taiwan's Philippines Representative Michael Peiyung Hsu, who was in attendance, said that if any assistance is needed for Taiwan-Philippines affairs, Adviser Su will lend a hand in any case.
Hsu said that last year 29 youth farmers from the Philippines went to Taiwan for agricultural technology training. They needed to attend online classes first in the Philippines but were without laptop computers. After learning this, Adviser Su immediately purchased 52 computers from Taiwan and donated them to the Department of Agriculture of the Philippines.
Hsu said that Adviser Su is genuinely modest and sincere, and expressed the hope that Su's business grows and grows and that he continues to actively promote Taiwan-Philippines relations.
The directions for Awarding Hai-Hwa Honored Medals of Overseas Community Affairs Council state that anyone who makes a concrete contribution in terms of promoting overseas compatriot affairs work, public diplomacy, handling emergencies involving ROC nationals or other matters that benefit the nation or raise the nation's profile can be awarded the Hai-Hwa Honored Medal.
