Taipei, Oct. 25 (CNA) The United States has downgraded its travel advisory for Taiwan to Level 1, indicating that U.S. citizens can now exercise normal precautions when planning a trip to the country, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) on Tuesday.
The travel alert for Taiwan, updated by the U.S. Department of State Monday (U.S. time), was lowered from Level 3, the second-highest on its four-color scale, MOFA said in a statement.
According to information on the website of the U.S. Department of State, the Level 3 advisory recommends that its citizens "avoid travel due to serious risks to safety and security," while Level 4 signifies a "do not travel" warning.
Level 1 is the lowest advisory level for safety and security risks, the ministry said, adding that it is the same level recommended by the U.S. for Japan, South Korea, Australia and other countries.
