TV producer Chen Chun-tian (陳君天) and entertainer Chang Chung-jung (張宗榮) were honored with the Special Contribution Award at the 57th Golden Bell Awards ceremony, which was held at the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall on Oct. 21.
Born in Henan, China in 1940, Chen Chun-tian moved to Taiwan when he was nine. He studied arts at the Political Warfare Cadres Academy (政治作戰學校) and entered the art section of the news department at Taiwan Television Enterprise, Ltd in 1966. Later he transferred to the programming department and was the first person to film and produce a music video of a song by singer Lily Chao (趙曉君) in a variety show. He also participated in the production of many large-scale music variety shows. Many artists such as Tong Ange (童安格), Jonathan Lee (李宗盛), and Fei Yu-ching (費玉清), who were active in the 1980s, all made their debuts in the programs produced by Chen.
Over a career spanning six decades, Chen has been honored with multiple awards. In recent years, he has devoted himself to the production of documentaries on modern history, contributing greatly to Taiwan’s cultural industry. At the awards ceremony, Chen expressed his hope that practitioners in the TV industry could join him in creating new momentum and promoting Taiwan's television culture to the world.
Born in Juifen in 1939, entertainer Chang Chung-jung is a composer, host as well as radio and TV program producer. He started working as a film orator in 1958 at the Shengping Theater, providing live narration for silent films. Later he joined the broadcasting industry and was involved in producing martial arts drama. He also held various positions such as director, screenwriter, and composer in different fields. Throughout his career, he has produced many representative works. To date, he continues to host a program about literacy and historical stories while promoting the Taiwanese language.
