Taipei, Nov. 7 (CNA) Taiwan badminton players Yang Po-han (楊博涵) and Lu Ching-yao (盧敬堯) clinched the 2022 HYLO Open men's doubles titles after edging out compatriots Lee Jhe-huei (李哲輝) and Yang Po-hsuan (楊博軒) 11-21, 21-17, 25-23 in Germany Sunday.
Sunday's result at the Saarlandhalle in Saarbrücken was a repeat of the last matchup between the men's doubles pairings at the 2019 Canada Open quarterfinals.
On Sunday, Yang Po-han and Lu fell behind to trail in the opening game with a four-point difference 11-7 before reaching the mid-game interval.
The gap later widened to 19-10 after Lee and Yang Po-hsuan reeled in five consecutive points before winning the game with a 10-point cushion.
Yang Po-han and Lu rallied to win the second game 21-17 to force a tiebreaker.
In the rubber game, Lee and Yang Po-hsuan finding a one-point advantage 23-22 before Yang Po-han and Lu won the next three points to clinch the match.
The latest victory is Yang Po-han and Lu's first title win after their triumph at the 2016 Prague Open.
The pair are on a run of recent good form after finishing as runners-up at the 2022 French Open on Oct. 30.
Meanwhile, Taiwan's Chou Tien-chen (周天成) lost 21-18, 11-21, 22-24 to Anthony Sinisuka Ginting of Indonesia in the men's singles final.
The intense match saw Ginting staying calm at the right moments to bag his second title of the season after taking the Singapore Open in July.
The BWF World Tour Super 300 tier HYLO Open was held Nov. 1-6 and carried a total prize purse of US$180,000.
