The annual Tibetan Culture and Art Festival Taiwan, organized by the Ministry of Culture, will come to a grand finale at the National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall on Nov. 4 and 5, featuring a performance titled "The Dreamland of Mantra (梵音國度)" by Tai Gu Tales Dance Theatre (太古踏舞團) and U-Theatre (優人神鼓).
The press conference on Nov. 3 was attended by Deputy Minister of Culture Hsiao Tsung-huang (蕭宗煌), artistic director Lin Hsiu-wei (林秀偉) of Tai Gu Tales Dance Theater (太古踏舞團), U-Theatre (優人神鼓) founder Liu Ruo-yu (劉若瑀) and artistic director Huang Chih-chun (黃誌群), and other distinguished guests.
Tai Gu Tales Dance Theatre and U-Theatre have been invited to perform together to depict the essence of Tibetan religious beliefs and culture with music, dance and images; while utilizing the creativity and design concepts of contemporary theater to explore the profound and rich cultural connotation of the Tibetan nation.
On behalf of Culture Minister Lee Yung-te, Deputy Minister Hsiao thanked Tai Gu Tales Dance Theatre and U-Theatre for their heart-touching performances and said, "Tibetan culture is not only a religion but also a philosophy; it is not only a belief but a spirit." He added that the performance will bring powerful strength and inner peace to the audience.
MOC stated that Tai Gu Tales Dance Theatre and U-Theatre have been devoted to integrating arts into people's lives for years. This collaborative performance is a new arrangement of their classic works to present the mutual reflection of Tibetan culture and Taiwanese multiculturalism. "The Dreamland of Mantra" combines Tibetan culture, such as Tibetan religion, myths and legends, and unique natural landscapes. The Tibetan Culture and Art Festival Taiwan is now in its 8th year. Through different thematic programs presented each year, audiences are invited to learn more about Tibetan culture. It is hoped that the public can have a better understanding and respect for other cultures and beliefs through this event, so as to enrich Taiwan's diverse cultural heritage and build a more inclusive society.
